Meditation and Mindfulness
At the intersection of technology and mental well-being, my role at UC Berkeley’s Meditation Lab has been instrumental in deciphering the multifaceted impacts of meditation practices on mental health. I led the comprehensive analysis of multidimensional data from over 900 participants, employing my expertise in Python, Pandas, and Matplotlib to engineer automated data pipelines and streamline data preprocessing and visualization workflows. I developed an NLP model using Latent Dirichlet Allocation to unearth key thematic insights from qualitative data. My ability to distill complex data into understandable and actionable findings was pivotal in demonstrating meditation’s efficacy through rigorous control group comparisons. This contribution not only advanced our understanding of meditation’s role in mental health but also played a crucial part in securing an additional $200,000 in funding for continued research, amplifying the lab’s capacity to explore and innovate in the realm of mental well-being.
Protecting California's Water
In my sophomore year of college, I worked with the consulting group, Data Science Society, to help The Nature Conservancy integrate data science with their environmental conservation efforts. Entrusted with the analysis of California’s water data, I processed over a million data records using SQL and Pandas, unveiling intricate patterns and insights into water diversion practices. My in-depth exploratory data analysis skills were pivotal in visualizing these patterns, providing a comprehensive understanding of their environmental implications. I went further to design an ensemble machine learning model with Python & Scikit-learn, adeptly predicting the risk levels of upcoming diversion applications. This innovation empowered The Nature Conservancy to proactively identify and address potential threats to crucial watersheds. My contributions were central in bolstering the organization’s initiatives to safeguard California’s fragile ecosystems, underscoring my commitment and capability to leverage data science in the service of environmental preservation.
